Vintage Conditions
In 2018, good winter rainfall and a warm October led to strong canopy growth and good fruit set. A frost event in November was a little scary and reduced yields in some areas. Warm and dry January/February weather enabled the fruit to intensify in flavor whilst retaining wonderfully fresh, natural acidity.
Vine Clone: Bernard 76

The History of The family
The vineyard was established in 1994. Having clocked up her first decade in viticulture, Claire saw a Wrattonbully site for sale that she already knew was exceptional. The name of the wine label is derived from the morning ritual of assembling their eight children “at the gate” for the school bus. The sisters’ philosophy around growing grapes and making wine is much the same as raising their children; provide a sustainable, healthy, nurturing environment and don’t interfere too much!
They are in southern Wrattonbully, in South Australia, midway on the inland route between Melbourne and Adelaide, on elevated tablelands, somewhat off the beaten track where they can focus on the business of growing premium wine grapes without distraction. Wrattonbully is a premium appellation in Australia’s lauded Limestone Coast, growing premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Chardonnay grapes, prized by many producers for inclusion in Australian premium multi-regional blends.
